Everyone knows Odessa as an oil town. But first-time visitors are often surprised to discover that Odessa is home to a recreation of William Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, as well as a replica of Stonehenge, of all things. Also, at one time, space made an impact on this town. The second largest meteor crater in the United States can be found here. This rough, cowboy town is plenty cultured. The local symphony is quite good and The Permian Playhouse is host to many a play and musical year round. The Lodge, one of two in Odessa proper, is conveniently just a short ride to the Midland-Odessa airport.
